The Green Oasis: Villamartín Golf

Our journey begins in the heart of the region, just minutes from your Mister Stay accommodation. Villamartín Golf is not just any golf course; it is a historic monument within the Spanish golfing world. Designed by the legendary Robert Dean Putman and opened in 1972, this par-72 course exudes character and tradition.

What makes Villamartín so unique is its lush Mediterranean vegetation. As you walk from hole to hole, you are surrounded by ancient olive trees, fragrant pines, and vibrant flowers. The course makes clever use of the natural contours of the land, providing challenging elevation changes and spectacular views.

The Signature Hole: Hole 17 is both infamous and beloved. This par-3 requires a precise shot over a deep ravine (barranco) directly onto an elevated green heavily guarded by strategically placed bunkers. A true test of your nerves!
The Atmosphere: After your round, the cozy clubhouse invites you for a refreshing drink. The terrace offers beautiful views over the course and the surrounding hills. The atmosphere here is always warm and welcoming.

The Blue Jewel: Cala Capitán

After an active morning on the golf course, there is nothing better than cooling off on the coast. Just a short drive from Villamartín lies Cala Capitán, one of the most beautiful and sheltered sandy beaches on the Orihuela Costa.

Cala Capitán is loved for its unique geography. The beach consists of two fine sandy bays separated by a small island called Isla del Carmen. This island acts as a natural barrier against strong currents, making the water in the bay remarkably calm and shallow. This makes Cala Capitán not only perfect for families with children, but also for snorkelers looking to explore the vibrant marine life around the rocks.

Facilities: The beach features an excellent Chiringuito (beach bar) where you can enjoy an ice-cold sangria or fresh tapas with your feet in the sand. Sun loungers and umbrellas are available for rent, and lifeguards patrol the area during the high season.
Walking Tip: From Cala Capitán, you can walk along the beautiful coastal path (Paseo Marítimo) to the nearby beaches of La Zenia or Cabo Roig. A highly recommended activity during the golden hours just before sunset.
